A Different Kind of Morning

 A Different Kind of Morning

By Colleeno Chippy

This morning didn’t start the way I’m used to. There was no meditative music playing softly in the background, no affirmations whispered into the quiet before sunrise. Instead, I woke up with something unfinished on my mind—a task I meant to handle the day before but didn’t get to. It weighed on me all through the night and met me again at daybreak.

I offered a short prayer for the gift of another day, then got up and headed straight into work mode. No time for my usual flow. Just action. Quick action.

That simple shift in routine—starting the day from a place of pressure rather than presence—set the tone. As the rest of the household began waking up, and the responsibilities started stacking, I found myself getting irritated over small things. Not because they were serious, but because I hadn’t taken time to center myself first.

And that’s when I paused.

I stepped outside, let the morning sounds wash over me, and reminded myself of the version of me I’m still becoming. The one who chooses peace before pressure. The one who acknowledges when she’s triggered—but doesn’t let it take over the whole day.

Growth isn’t about never slipping. It’s about recognizing when you do and choosing a different response.

This morning reminded me that I’m allowed to begin again at any point. Even if my day didn’t start with stillness, I can return to it. Even if I forgot my rituals, I can pick them up mid-morning, at noon, or even before bed.

I’m learning to stop letting one moment define the energy of the entire day.

So today, I’m reclaiming my rhythm. Slowing my breath. Grounding my thoughts. And choosing a softer response.

Final Thought

Sometimes you wake up and feel like you’re already behind. But you still have the power to pause and realign. Even when the morning begins with motion, the rest of the day can still meet you in peace.
