Looking Back, I Can See the Preparation

Looking Back, I Can See the Preparation

By Colleeno Chippy

Sometimes we only recognize preparation after the season changes.

While we are living through certain moments, they may feel random. Uncomfortable. Even unnecessary.

But later…when life shifts… we begin to see that God was already working long before we understood why.

That realization has been sitting heavily on my heart lately.

Because when I look back over my life, I can now see places where I was being prepared for a season I had not yet entered.

Prepared mentally. Prepared emotionally. Prepared spiritually.

And at the time, I did not fully understand it.

There were habits I once depended on to escape.

Not because I was weak— but because sometimes people use distractions to quiet what they are feeling internally.

Sometimes people lean on temporary comforts because reality feels heavy.

And for a long time, I thought certain things were helping me cope.

Until one day, something shifted within me.

Quietly.

Without force. Without pressure.

I made the decision to let certain things go.

Not gradually.

Completely.

And at the time, I didn’t fully realize how important that decision would become later.

But now I see it differently.

Because when life became heavier…

when uncertainty arrived…

when emotions became deeper…

I realized something:

God had already been strengthening me beforehand.

He had already started removing things I once depended on.

Things I may have turned back to during difficult moments if they were still attached to me.

And honestly… that realization humbled me deeply.

Because sometimes deliverance does not look dramatic.

Sometimes it looks like slowly being separated from what no longer aligns with where God is taking you.

And often, you do not understand the reason until later.

That is why I have been learning to trust God differently.

Not only when things feel good— but even in difficult seasons.

Because I keep seeing His hand in moments I could have overlooked.

Small moments. Unexpected moments. Moments where things could have gone differently… but somehow, grace stepped in.

And those moments remind me of something important:

God prepares people before certain seasons arrive.

Not perfectly. Not instantly. But intentionally.

Looking back now, I realize some things were not random at all.

Certain lessons. Certain shifts. Certain separations. Certain awakenings.

All preparation. Not punishment. Preparation for the person I am becoming.

And while this current season has not been easy…

I can honestly say I see God differently now.

Closer.

More intentional. More present.

Not because everything is perfect— but because even in uncertainty, I can see evidence that I am being carried.

That realization changes you.

It changes the way you think. The way you trust. The way you move through difficulty.

Because now, instead of only focusing on what feels hard, you begin noticing what has already been sustaining you.

The strength you did not know you had. The habits you outgrew. The mindset that shifted. The doors grace quietly closed before they could destroy you.

And suddenly you realize:

God was preparing you long before you recognized the season you would need that preparation for.

So if you are in a difficult place right now…

Pause for a moment.

Look back.

You may discover that you have already survived things that once would have broken you.

You may realize that growth has already been happening quietly.

You may even recognize that certain changes in your life were not random—

they were preparation.

And maybe… just maybe…

God has been shaping you for more than you can currently see.

Conclusion

Some seasons only make sense in hindsight.

What once felt random may later reveal itself as preparation.

And sometimes the greatest evidence of God’s presence is not found only in miracles—

but in the quiet ways He strengthens, redirects, protects, and prepares you before the season arrives.
