A Tribute to My Sister, Terry-Ann Chippy: Forever My Lovely Berry

A Tribute to My Sister, Terry-Ann Chippy: Forever My Lovely Berry

By Colleeno Chippy

Sitting Here, Trying to Grasp

Sitting here trying to come to grasp,

To term the term used for loss.

Death is inevitable, but somehow I still can’t grasp.

Where do I go from here?

How do I stop these tears?

The hurt I feel because you’re no longer here.

You made a mess of us when you left us,

Your heart as big as your brand name smile.

I see you as the best of us,

Forever in my eyes.

I miss you, my lovely berry,

Forever and always, my sister, my best friend.

A Sister, a Friend, a Light

Terry-Ann Chippy wasn’t just a sister; she was a light in our lives. Her laughter filled rooms, her smile was infectious, and her heart was boundless. She had a way of bringing joy to everyone around her, a rare quality that made her the glue that held us together.

When she left us in August, the world felt dimmer. The reality of her absence has been hard to bear, and every day, I grapple with the void she left behind. Yet, even in her absence, her spirit is a guiding force, reminding me to cherish every moment, love deeply, and live fully.

The Pain of Loss and the Gift of Memories

Losing someone so close is a pain that words can hardly capture. It’s a longing that feels endless, a heartache that seems unbearable. But in the midst of sorrow, I hold onto the memories of Terry-Ann—the way she called me “sister,” her laughter that echoed joy, and the love she showed so effortlessly.

She was more than my sister; she was my confidante, my cheerleader, and my best friend. The nickname “Berry” was hers, a sweet reflection of the love and sweetness she brought into our lives.

Finding Comfort in Small Things

While the loss of Terry-Ann is profound, I’ve found comfort in small things: a familiar scent that reminds me of her, a song that echoes her spirit, or a quiet moment in nature that feels like her gentle embrace.

For anyone navigating grief, I encourage you to find those small comforts and lean into them. They are reminders that love never truly leaves us; it transforms, becoming the memories and strength we carry forward.
