As I watched my 3-year-old son maneuver his way through Roblox with an ease that left my sister and me in awe, I couldn’t help but reflect on how much gaming has evolved over the years. It was a heartwarming moment that transported us back to our childhood, where gaming meant something entirely different.


Growing up, we didn’t have access to personal devices or endless virtual worlds at our fingertips. The only “gaming console” we knew was tucked away at a shop down the road from our house—a classic jukebox-style machine loaded with Mortal Kombat. My sister and I would save every bit of pocket change just to buy a round. Back then, the thrill of hearing “Finish him!” echoed louder than the cheers of spectators crowding around to watch.


Fast forward to today, and I see my son immersed in Roblox, a game where players can explore, create, and interact in digital universes beyond anything I could have imagined as a child. The convenience of playing from the comfort of our living room, the creativity Roblox inspires, and the countless possibilities it offers are all testaments to how far technology has come.


While the nostalgia of Mortal Kombat brings a smile to my face, I can’t help but feel a sense of pride watching my little one thrive in this new gaming era. He’s learning problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity in ways we couldn’t have dreamed of as kids. It’s a reminder of how each generation builds on the experiences of the one before it.


As I sit here reminiscing, I realize how special it is to share these memories with my sister and see how our lives have come full circle. The tools and technology may have changed, but the joy of gaming—the laughter, the friendly competition, and the memories made—remains timeless.
