Protecting Your Peace: Spiritual Boundaries in a Draining World
Protecting Your Peace: Spiritual Boundaries in a Draining World
By Colleeno Chippy
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
— Proverbs 4:23
Protecting your peace is not selfish.
It is spiritual wisdom.
It is emotional maturity.
It is honoring the woman God is shaping you to be.
As I’ve shared in previous blogs, healing isn’t just about what you allow into your life — it’s also about what you refuse to entertain anymore.
Some people drain you.
Some environments break you.
Some conversations disturb your spirit.
Spiritual boundaries are how you say:
“I belong to God — and not everything gets access to me.”
Peace is a Gift — But You Must Protect It
Peace is not passive.
Peace is something you choose and something you guard.
Jesus saw crowds, demands, expectations — yet He often withdrew to pray.
(Luke 5:16)
Even the Savior set boundaries.
If Jesus Himself took breaks from people…
why do we feel guilty doing the same?
You are allowed to:
• Walk away from chaos
• Distance yourself from drama
• Say “no” without apology
• Rest without explanation
• Remove access to your energy
Some Doors Must Close for God to Open the Right Ones
Not everyone is assigned to your destiny.
Some were only part of your history.
And God will protect your purpose by removing what threatens your peace.
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
— Exodus 14:14
Stillness is a form of protection.
Not everyone deserves entry to the sacred place God healed inside of you.
Peace is Alignment with God’s Presence
Anything that feels heavy…
Anything that keeps you anxious…
Anything that disturbs your spirit…
Is not from God.
God’s presence always leads to peace — even in storms.
God’s guidance always brings clarity — even in uncertainty.
If it costs you peace, it is too expensive.
You’re Not Hard — You’re Healed
People may not like your boundaries —
but they benefit from the healed version of you.
You’re not building walls —
you’re building wisdom.
You’re not pushing people out —
you’re pushing distractions away.
You’re not changing —
you’re growing.
